E!’s Ken Baker Talks “How I Got Skinny”

Ken Baker keeps it real. So it’s no surprise that when the E! News correspondent penned his latest novel How I Got Skinny, Famous, and Fell Madly in Love, he kept it so real even Jennifer Lawrence was like, “Whaaat!”

Baker’s newly released novel, affectionately called  How I Got Skinny, tells the story of a young Emery Jackson. Jackson (whose name is adapted by Baker’s youngest son) is an overweight teenage girl whose weight loss journey is prompted by her family’s need and desire to appear on reality TV. Little does Emery know, she is about to get a serious reality check.

The book is playfully written with urban nuances, shedding light on “text talk” and pop culture references (a quality I most certainly enjoyed.) While Baker creates an indulgent read through dynamic characters and hilarious one-liners, the book’s core message does not get overlooked. In fact, it’s delivered like a juicy Carl’s Jr. Double Western Bacon Cheeseburger. Double cheese.

A sincere and severe awareness to extreme weight loss is projected through the eyes of Emery Jackson. A message that I, along with so many others, thankfully support. In the spirit of conscious health, Ken and I packed our Vitamix (just kidding, that was provided) and brought our appetites to a local Whole Foods Market to create the official How I Got Skinny smoothie. But before our delicious endeavor, Ken dished on all things How I Got Skinny, celebrity, and  the important message you ought to know.

Check out the interview, and be sure to grab your copy of How I Got Skinny, Famous, and Fell Madly in Love today!
